André Baeten

Prof. André Baeten is a research professor for lightweight construction and fiber composite technology at the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg, Germany. He studied mechanical engineering with a focus on aerospace technology at the Technical University of Aachen, RWTH, Germany.
From 2000, he was a development engineer for flight physics at Airbus military aircraft in Munich, where he was responsible for external load integration and flight testing on the combat aircraft Eurofighter and Tornado. In 2007, Mr. Baeten received his Ph.D. in numerical simulation of liquid behavior in lightweight tanks. He joined Matra BAE Dynamics + Alenia (MBDA) Germany and worked there as a systems engineer for the development of the air defense system MEADS. In 2009, he received a call to the Technical University of Augsburg in 2009, where he became a professor of lightweight construction, fiber composite technology, and technical mechanics. Since 2017, Mr. Baeten has been a research professor focusing on hybrid materials engineering at the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg, Germany. For more than ten years, Mr Baeten has conducted research together with renowned project partners in industrial and joint projects on the subject of "lightweight construction" with a total volume of 4 million Euros got approved and led to a successful conclusion as a project manager. He has authored over 25+ conference and journal papers and presentations and serves on the Boards of several Research Institutions.
