Prof. Dr. Barbara Rink

As one of the first professors in the Social Work program at the Technical University of Augsburg (Bavaria), Barbara Rink has taken part in building the School of Social Work. She is also an international faculty coordinator since 2020 and works on the internationalization of the study program. She first worked in (European) political youth work (2002 to 2004), afterward for ten years in applied social research at the German Youth Institute (DJI) (2006 to 2016). Her focus fields included youth research, policy evaluation, migration, European youth policy cooperation, intercultural competence, and municipal consulting.
Between 2014 and 2016, she worked as a municipal consultant at the DJI, advising municipalities on implementing data-based education management. In 2016, she moved to Munich and established local education management in a district with a high need for intervention. The goal was to work with local stakeholders to further develop the local educational landscape in a data-based and systematic way to improve access to education and contribute to more significant educational equity.
