Contents
  • Learning design methods and design systems for buildings of a medium level of complexity
  • Expansion of the requirements of the "Methods of Design 2" module through the integration of manufacturing aspects (product and system development) plus aspects of energy efficiency and ecology into the design. Design of buildings/parts of buildings as product and system development with industrial prefabrication
  • Design of air-conditioning systems for buildings, application of basic energetic quantifications (taught in Modules IWS 1 and IWS 2), and feedback about the findings on the design in terms of a cybernetic circuit- Presentation techniques of freehand drawing, technical drawing, model building, presentation
Qualification objectives
  • The students are able to design buildings of a medium level of complexity that take account of a variety of aspects, including energy efficiency and ecological factors
  • The students are able to apply basic calculation procedures for energy balancing and protection against summer overheating in their design, to draw conclusions from them and to incorporate the findings into the design in a cybernetic design process
  • The students are able to present their design, including the design process, in drawings and as a model- The interdisciplinary objective here is personality development, as the students have to work out their own standpoint on the design task, generate independent strategies for finding solutions, give these solutions a tangible form and discuss them in the group. The students also have to include the social impact of these solutions in the design, learn how to express themselves in public and improve their presentation techniques.
