This degree program is normally completed after seven semesters with the degree of Bachelor of Science, or B.Sc. for short.

The aim of the computer science bachelor’s degree course is to give the students a thorough grounding in the composition and mode of operation of IT systems, software development methods, computer networks and databases. In addition to this, the computer studies course provides an introduction to related disciplines such as mathematics, statistics, numerical methods, physics and business studies. It also includes strategies for method selection and development, as well as modeling and problem-solving. Students learn soft skills (such as teamwork and giving presentations) during supervised project work and seminars.

An integrated internship semester guarantees close contact with industry. The faculty’s professors have many years of experience in industry and work closely with a variety of businesses and public institutions.

The job profile of a computer scientist is extremely varied and versatile. It includes system and application programming, systems analysis, the further development and maintenance of existing software systems, the creation of new applications from existing modules, the planning and execution of large-scale IT projects, problem analysis, support and expansion of computer networks, consulting in issues of information processing, training for staff and customers, web design and multi-media productions.

Given the changes in communication culture brought about by computers and the internet, and the associated shortage of computer scientists and IT specialists, job opportunities both now and in the future are extremely good.

Applicants for a place on this course should demonstrate an interest in science and technology, as well as having a good grasp of logic. Above all, they need to be inquisitive, imaginative and creative. The course begins each winter semester on October 1st.
