WLAN
Campus-wide with eduroam for academic purposes !!!
eduroam stands for Education Roaming. Access works for all connected educational institutions, Europe-wide, with your RZ account plus domain (hs-augsburg.de)
[RZ-Account]@hs-augsburg.de / [your RZ password]
Restrictions:
- WLAN is a shared medium
- All users accessing an AccessPoint AP share its bandwidth
- Bluetooth, DECT, microwave ovens, ... use the 2.4 GHz range and interfere significantly with reception.
Therefore:
- Deactivate WLAN, Bluetooth for mobile devices not in use
- Refrain from using youtube, for example, and from downloading large amounts of data
- Do not play online games
- Concentrate on your lecture
Better WLAN reception with:
802.1a or 802.1n capable devices. Try to prioritize your device for the use of 802.1a/n. Reception is significantly better in the 5 GHz range and is not disturbed by other devices. Most APs on campus support the 802.1a and n standards.
