Research on Touch-based, Gestural and Spatial Interaction
We try to identify and study the various factors that impact the performance (and precision and error rate) of touch interactions. While the starting point for analysis is Fitts' Law, the general goal is to extend or modify Fitts' Law according to the empirical results. Context factors are: regions on the screen, direction of movement, and hand grip (for mobile devices).
In future work we want to apply our methods to gesture-based and spatial interaction.

Teaching
The advanced course Interaction Engineering prepares you for research in this area. The course is open for students of computer science (Bachelor and Master), interactive media systems (IMS) and MAPR students.
In the master programme IMS we offer the focus area (Schwerpunkt) Human-Computer Interaction Design where we also encourage students to conduct research topics.
