State study support according to the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG)
Some foreign students who are permitted to stay in Germany long-term (e.g. recognized refugees) or have been living in Germany for a long time can finance their studies through state study support (BAföG).
This support is provided half as loan and half as grant. You only have to pay back the loan portion later, to a maximum of €10,000. The grant portion is donated by the state.
You can make an application for inland BAföG to Augsburg Student Services.
