ARIDLL project at the EuroCALL Conference 2024 in Trnava, Slovakia

Aug 26, 2024

On behalf of the consortium, Prof. Dr. Gruber presented the Erasmus+ funded project “Augmented Reality Instructional Design for Language Learning (ARIDLL)” at the EuroCALL Conference 2024. Augmented reality (AR) augments reality with digital elements and can promote the understanding of abstract or difficult-to-grasp concepts as well as learners' problem-solving skills. Despite its potential, AR faces technological challenges and there is a lack of didactically sound resources.

In language teaching, AR offers multimodal learning environments that can increase motivation and engagement and promote interactive and collaborative learning. However, the acceptance of AR in education is currently still limited due to limited knowledge and a lack of resources among teachers.
This is where the Erasmus+-funded ARIDLL project comes in: It aims to close these gaps by building a professional community, providing AR training for teachers and curriculum developers and developing open educational resources. Using MirageXR, an open source AR platform, the project facilitates the integration of AR into language teaching and supports the development of sustainable and innovative learning environments.
