A dissertation is an independent piece of research that makes a significant contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the respective discipline.
The coursework in the Master of Applied Research (MAPR) consists to an above-average extent of project-related applied research. It is therefore referred to as a Research Master or Project Master.
