Blog: June 24, 2025, Thirteenth Week Honors Seminar Summary
Authors: Moritz Tackenberg, Clemens Popp

Dear Honors Seminar Enthusiasts and Future Optimists,
Wow, what a journey the 2025 Honors Seminar has been! Our focus on “Optimism” truly made this an unforgettable experience. It wasn’t just about sitting in class; it was about those moments where something just clicked, shifting how we think and giving us a real buzz. We’ve spent weeks diving deep, sparking some really cool debates, and hitting those “aha moments” that make learning actually stick. As we wrap up, we wanted to share a vibrant snapshot of what we discovered together, hoping it makes you feel like you were right there with us.
Our Grand Finale: How We Wrapped Up the Last Session
1. Feedback Reflection: We kicked things off with Alisa, who gave us a quick, thoughtful analysis of the feedback we (some of us 😉) had given.
2. Weekly Journeys Shared: Next up, the students who bravely tackled writing our weekly blog posts each got to briefly sum up their weeks. They didn’t just recap; they shared their personal highlights and those unique “aha moments” that made each week special.

Here you can watch the sum-ups:

3. Spreading Optimism at THA: Inspired by everything we’d learned, we jumped into an energetic brainstorming session. The room was buzzing with ideas about how we could spread the spirit of optimism and do something genuinely positive for our university community. These are some impressions:
- PV Modules: Install them on vertical facades of THA buildings like E, W, H, … or rent these walls to companies that can use them this way.
- Recycling Room: Create an official website for new or exchange students, for things like book crossing, and a self-service corner that gets spread globally via SWOP.
- Herb Gardening or Urban Gardening: Set up an exchange marketplace for clothes, reduce parking lots to free up more space for activities like pool parties, sports, BBQs…
- Cleaning or Repairing Party: Organize events like “Dancing Clean,” which means dancing and cleaning at the same time; Karaoke – Beer – DJ – Beer; other ideas include implementing the Climate Adaptation Plan.
- Tutoring, Waste Collection, Charity Runs of Walkathons, or STEM Mentoring.
- Building Bridges:

4. Kahoot Quiz! To test our knowledge (and have a laugh), we dove into a Kahoot quiz covering everything we’d learned. It was a fantastic, light-hearted challenge that showed just how much had actually stuck from our wide-ranging discussions.

If you want to test your knowlegde, here you go:
5. Cheers to Optimism: Finally, we wound down the evening with a relaxed gathering, enjoying some well-deserved snacks and drinks. It was the perfect way to celebrate the seminar’s success, the new perspectives we gained, and the awesome connections we’ve made.

As we wrap up our honors seminar, it’s time to reflect on the experiences we’ve shared. The discussions and projects have significantly contributed to our growth. A standout moment has been the receive of our LinkedIn badges, which symbolize our acquired skills and knowledge.
These badges not only acknowledge our participation but also enhance our professional profiles.

As we part ways, we do so with cherished friendships and unforgettable experiences. We leave with a sense of gratitude for the moments we’ve shared and the lessons we’ve learned together. It’s been a journey filled with laughter, challenges, and growth, and we are excited about what the future holds.
Let’s look forward to reuniting soon, carrying with us the memories of our time together and the bonds we’ve formed. Here’s to new adventures and the hope that our paths will cross again!
