A Simulation Game of Mutating Symbiotic Organisms with Interchangeable User Interfaces of Increasing Icon Usage

In this thesis I will discuss the development process and prototype of my game project dubbed SimBio1. This includes how I came to the following aspiration for the game: A simulation game about mutating, symbiotic species trying to survive with a needs based AI with emergent behavior based on simple rules Additionally I decided to pursue the following research question regarding my experiment with different types of user interfaces: How does replacing text with icons affect the usability and perceived attractiveness of an interface in context of a simple simulation game?
