During the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences Council session on 8 February, Ramona Meinzer, Managing Partner of Aumüller Aumatic GmbH, was elected as chairperson. Meinzer is the successor of Roland Kreitmeier, former head of the Augsburg branch of Siemens AG, who was the chairperson of the University Council for six years.

The new members of the Council are Reinhold Braun, Managing Partner of Sortimo International GmbH, and Rudolf Franz, member of the Board of Management at voxeljet AG. They were appointed to the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences Council by the Bavarian Ministry of Science and Art. Braun and Franz are the successors of Kreitmeier and Klaus Weinmann, founder and CEO of PRIMEPULSE SE, who stepped down after serving two terms – the maximum number of terms – on the University Council. This spring, Kreitmeier will be honored for his services as University Council chairperson at a ceremony at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.

"I look forward to working with the new chairperson and the new members of the University Council", emphasized University President Prof. Dr. Gordon Thomas Rohrmair on the occasion of the 56th session of the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences Council. "They have deep roots in this region and shape the economic area of Augsburg with their innovative spirit and their entrepreneurial foresight. We at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences are fortunate that we can rely on their expertise and dedication." The President's Office is grateful to outgoing chairperson Kreitmeier for his many years of commitment. Kreitmeier put a great deal of personal effort into ensuring that the cooperation between business and science here in the region was further advanced and that Augsburg University of Applied Sciences was able to position itself for the future, explained Rohrmair.

The Augsburg University of Applied Sciences Council is composed of twenty members: ten internal representatives, consisting of a University Senate and student representatives, and ten external members from business, science and culture. External members serve for a term of four years, and a maximum of two terms can be served. The University Council has a supervisory board function, decides on institutions, changes or abolition of study programs and budgetary issues as well as the basic regulations and the University development plan, and supports University management in an advisory capacity with regard to the strategic orientation of the University.

"New study programs aligned to the needs of the region, top results in teaching, expansion of research into significant future fields such as artificial intelligence and autonomous driving, a flourishing start-up culture – the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences has experienced outstanding development in the last number of years. It is an honor to support the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences in an advisory capacity as chairperson of the University Council and to actively shape its strategic orientation", said Meinzer on her appointment as chairperson of the University Council.
