On December 6, 2024, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) prize was presented to Oleksandra Suzik as part of the International Winter Fair at Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg (THA). She is in her sixth semester on the International Information Systems Bachelor's degree course. The prize, which is endowed with 1,000 euros, is awarded to students who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic achievements and special social or intercultural commitment.

Dominik Maas, Head of the International Office, congratulated the student from Ukraine on behalf of the entire university team and presented her with the certificate. Prof. Matthias Kolonko gave the laudatory speech for the award winner. In his speech, he emphasized not only Oleksandra Suzik's outstanding academic achievements, but also her excellent level of German language skills, which had significantly supported her successful integration in Germany. The extraordinary successes that Suzik achieved during her internship were particularly noteworthy. Her professionalism and expertise are very impressive and she has shown that she is well prepared to gain a professional foothold in Germany.

Oleksandra Suzik also impressed the jury with her social commitment. Kolonko explained at the award ceremony: “She was always very committed to making it easier for international first-year students to get started at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and to helping them find their way around the German university landscape and the city of Augsburg. Particular attention was paid to people with a refugee background.” Right at the beginning of her stay in Germany, she organized clothing donations that were distributed to refugee students from Odessa. Suzik is currently helping students from Ukraine with administrative procedures and translations. In doing so, she is making a decisive contribution to the integration of the target group at the THA and in the city of Augsburg.

As an ambassador for the International Information Systems degree course, she also took part in a promotional film to present the content and benefits of the program to a wider audience and, above all, to the partner universities abroad. Kolonko concluded in his laudatory speech: “Suzik's combination of academic excellence, excellent language skills and professional success and commitment underlines her potential for a promising future in Germany.”
