Project description
Knowledge is conveyed in a child-friendly manner through illustrations and animations, presented in the form of a web application developed using React. Following an explanation, the content is illustrated through playful and interactive elements.
Parents facing a cancer diagnosis often struggle to communicate the news to their children. "Loni's Space Journey" was developed to provide support in this challenging situation. Through the website, families embark on a personalized intergalactic journey with the main character, Loni. Along the way, they learn about the cancer diagnosis and treatment of the affected parent on different planets. Interactive elements within the story convey the information in a child-friendly and engaging manner.
The application focuses on the main character, Loni, who travels with their parent undergoing treatment. Loni learns about cancer and its treatment options. The storyline takes Loni to various planets where different therapy forms for children are vividly explained. The space theme serves as a metaphorical framework to make the emotional journey child-friendly.
The story can be customized to fit the unique reality of each family. Parents can set the gender and treatment options of the affected person before starting the story. The situation of the main character, Loni, reflects the child's reality, facilitating an easy transfer to the actual situation.
The technical implementation of our project is in the form of a web application (Webapp) specifically designed for tablets, developed using React. Interactive elements were integrated using Pixi.js, a powerful JavaScript library for 2D graphics and animations. The animations were exported as Lottiefiles and embedded into the website.
