Project description
The modernization of project management software for the bifa Environmental Institute is underway.
The project aims to optimize the management of projects with varying scopes and durations. A completely new web application is being developed to better meet current requirements.
The bifa Environmental Institute is a leading R&D institution in the field of environmental technology, conducting both traditional third-party research and contract research. The current legacy system is based on a SQL-based project database that has been in use for approximately 15 years but no longer meets current requirements.
In the summer semester of 2022, a modern web application was already created using React (frontend) and Spring Boot (backend). In the second iteration, additional features such as a rights and roles concept with integration into the Windows Active Directory service, resource planning, and the implementation of Excel files as CSV exports into the web application were integrated. The tools, programming languages, and frameworks used include Spring Boot (Java), React (Typescript), Material-UI, and Docker.
