Deregistration
You can apply to deregister from Augsburg UAS at any time, even during the current semester. The Student Office is responsible for deregistration.
A student may deregister for personal reasons or for one of the reasons set down in the Bavarian Higher Education Act. The following three reasons are the most common:
- Students deregister at the end of the semester in which they pass their final examinations
- Students who have failed a required examination and exhausted all options for retaking the examination, or who through their own fault are unable to meet the requirements for taking such an examination, must be deregistered. An exception to this is if the student changes to another degree program in which the foundation studies are different from his/her original course.
- Students who, upon re-enrollment, do not pay the fees due or provide the required certificate of health insurance coverage through their own fault are to be deregistered.
When you deregister, you will receive verification of this for the German Pension Scheme.
You can deregister in person or authorize another person to do so for you through a simple power of proxy. Please state in writing precisely what this designated person is authorized to do for you, i.e. should they simply deregister you or are they also authorized to pick up your diploma certificates, certificates of grades etc?
If you wish to continue your studies at a later date, you will have to re-apply to the university. Please contact the Student Office and your faculty to find out under what circumstances this would be possible. You will need to consider, for example, whether the course will still exist, what study groups would be available, what requirements you would have to fulfill for re-admission to the individual semesters and so on.
Reimbursement of Fees and Charges
You can only apply for the reimbursement of your Student Services fee, including the price of the semester ticket, if you have deregistered or been deregistered before the start of the following semester (30 September for the winter semester, 14 March for the summer semester).
First-semester students who are transferring from the university at which they originally had a place are exempt from these deadlines.
If you have already received your Campus Card Augsburg, you will need to return it to the Student Office along with the Application for reimbursement of the Student Services fee.
