Michael Finkel was graduated from TU Munich in 1995 and received his Dr. degree also from TU Munich in 2003 and his MBA degree from Henley Management College in 2006. From 1995 to 1998 he was a Test Engineer at the high voltage lab of Siemens in Berlin. After his Phd he worked one year for the Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen in Regensburg and from 2004 to 2007 for the SWM Infrastruktur GmbH, the grid operator in the city of Munich. Since 2007 he is Professor for high voltage engineering and power supply at the University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg. His acutal research focus is on island power supply with distributed generation systems, the integration of E-Mobility and heat pumps into the distribution grid and using AI for planning and operation of distribution grids. Since 2008 he is a member of IEEE, Cigre and the VDE.
