As part of an event on artificial intelligence (AI) for the Media Scouts Augsburg, Prof. Alice Gruber gave an interactive lecture entitled "AI and foreign language learning". Together with Prof. Gruber, the media scouts explored the many possible applications of AI in language learning. Particular attention was paid to the critical view of AI. The combination of AI with virtual reality (VR) in the field of foreign language learning was also examined. The participants were given the opportunity to independently experience the VR app "The Line" in English using a VR headset (Meta Quest 2). They were supported by the students Hoda Abdelmageed and Mayar Jabareen.

The direct experience with VR gave the students a comprehensive insight into the new learning opportunities that VR offers. They were immersed in a completely immersive world and faced linguistic challenges in the process. The enthusiasm of the participants for the learning environment that VR offers was great.
