Understanding of research

The Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering understands research as "application-oriented research":

Scientific methods are to be used to generate knowledge for creating new products and processes or evolving existing ones. This new knowledge benefits our academic teaching.
 For us, research serves no end in itself, but should benefit society, taking into account human dignity as well as sustainability (resource efficiency).
