step-by-step instructions
1. Research the Gateway Bayern portal.
Here you will find results from the Bavarian academic libraries, e.g.from the university and college libraries in Munich, Regensburg, Nuremberg, ... from the Bavarian State Library and from other archives and research institutions.
You can change the language at the bottom.
2. Click on the desired title in the result list.
3. Make sure that the book is not in the holdings of the HSA Library (Sigel: Aug 4) or the Augsburg University Library (Sigel: 384).
Books that are available in an Augsburg library can NOT be ordered via interlibrary loan, but you have to go to the respective library yourself!
4. Click on the SFX button ("Services, Fernleihe und weitere eXtras")
5. Change the Language right at the top.
Click "Get it! (Interlibrary Loan)"
6. Select your "home library (Heimatbibliothek)". As a user of the HSA Library, choose "HSB Augsburg".
[This step can be omitted within the campus network, since the home library is automatically recognized.]
6. Log in with your library number (to be found on your CCA, starting with 00600...) and PIN (date of birth in the format ddmmyy).
7. The order form opens. Here you can check your order again before you click on "Send interlibrary loan request" at the bottom. Usually you can send the interlibrary loan request without making any adjustments, but you can optionally provide additional information.
7. a) Information on the assumption of costs: ordering entire books is free. If you would like a copy of an individual chapter or if the book is not loanable (almost never occurs), fees apply (1.50 €). The higher costs for more than 40 pages have been omitted since 1.3.2018.
7. b) Information on the latest delivery date: If you do not need the book after a certain date (e.g. because you then have to hand in the work for which you need the book), you can make a note here. However, specifying a deadline does not result in faster delivery!
In general one can say that an interlibrary loan order from Bavarian libraries can usually be picked up within 1 week.
7. c) Information on different editions (older / newer editions of the book): Would you like a specific edition or only the most recent one?
8. Once you have submitted the resource sharing request, the library that owns the book you want will be notified.
It prepares the book for shipping and sends it to us by post or with the book truck.
As soon as we have received the book, you will receive an e-mail to your HSA e-mail address and you can pick up the book at the library counter within 14 days of notification.
The loan period is usually 4 weeks, but an extension is usually also possible. The library from which the book comes determines the exact loan period. You can also view the loan periods in your InfoGuide account and extend them if necessary.
