If you have been unable to find what you are looking for in the library catalogue of the THA Library or the other libraries in Augsburg, you can order materials via interlibrary loan from other Bavarian or German libraries, e.g. from the university libraries in Munich, Regensburg, Nuremberg, etc., from the Bavarian State Library, and from other archives and research institutions.
Interlibrary loans will not be available from 19 April 2026

Due to the transition to the new library system, interlibrary loan requests cannot be placed via the THA Library from 20 April 2026 until, it is expected, the end of June 2026.
During this period, the interlibrary loan service provided by the University of Augsburg can be used.

Facts about interlibrary loans
Ordering books is free of charge. Articles from journals can be ordered for a nominal charge of 1.50 EUR (up to 40 pages).
You can pick up (and, if applicable, pay for) your order at the information desk (1-3 weeks after placing your order).
The regulations regarding lending period, renewals and reminders vary depending on the library from which a book is borrowed. In most cases, the lending period is 4 weeks and the books can be renewed once.
Interlibrary loans can be returned using the self-service returns machine or at the information desk.
Interlibrary loans are limited to 25 books at a time for students and 10 for external users.
The following cannot be borrowed through the interlibrary loans system:
- DIN standards and VDI guidelines
- Loose-leaf binders
- Popular fiction
- Books available at libraries in Augsburg
Bavarian interlibrary loan
You can use the Gateway Bayern to search for books in other Bavarian libraries.
Click on the SFX icon ("Orts-/Fernleihe und mehr") for an overview of how to obtain the selected title. Then choose "Das will ich haben! (Fernleihe) - Ein Service des Bibliotheksverbundes Bayern". If asked for selecting "Bibliotheksgruppe/Bibliothek", please leave the fields empty.
A registration window will open now. Select the HSB Augsburg as your local library and register with your user number (the 11-figure number on your Campus Card) and your PIN (date of birth, DDMMYY).

It is not possible to trace the document you require in Augsburg or any other Bavarian library? Try to verify its bibliographic data in other research tools, e.g. KVK, Google, online shops,... and order it via "Free interlibrary loan".
Please register with your library user number (11-figure number on your campus card) and PIN (date of birth, DDMMYY). Complete the form with the bibliographic data of the document you want to order. Detailed information (especially ISBN) will facilitate the order processing.
