Research groups

The Applied Psychology for Research and Innovation Lab – THA_april – consists of four full-time professors and currently two research assistants. The purpose of the research group is to apply findings from psychological research to the design of work and organizations and, in particular, to support SMEs in meeting current challenges such as sustainability and digitalization by building future competencies and change processes. Particular areas of focus include human-centered AI development, the development of immersive and gamified learning formats, and contributions to securing skilled workers and expanding employability.

The research group for Automation in Usability Engineering (THA_aue) has been working for several years on methods and tools for pattern- and model-based development and automatic generation of interactive systems.

The focus is on graphical user interfaces for web, server, desktop and mobile software applications. In addition to pattern and pattern language editors, pattern browsers and generators that evaluate specifications in XML and PLML (Pattern Language Markup Language), development approaches for domain-specific systems are created.

In the THA_comp research group, four professors from the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg combine their competences in the field of "Composites in Mechanical Engineering". This will effectively advance research in this field. The central topics are Design & Engineering, Process Technology and Recycling & Sustainability.

The aim of the research group THA_net is the development of new network technologies and applications for applied research. The group develops real systems and software, standardizes the protocols and shows the applicability of the research results.

Die Forschungsgruppe für optimierte Wertschöpfung (THA_ops) an der School of Business der Technischen Hochschule Augsburg besteht aus drei hauptamtlichen Professoren und derzeit sieben wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeitern. Seit 2010 bearbeitet die THA_ops Fragestellungen aus der regionalen und überregionalen Wirtschaft. Dabei greifen die Professoren auf ihre Expertise aus langjährigen praktischen Erfahrungen zurück und kombinieren diese mit hochaktuellen Kenntnissen aus der theoretischen Wissenschaft. Im Fokus der Arbeiten stehen Prozessoptimierung, Lean Management und Change Management. Begleitet werden Projekte von der Konzepterstellung bis zum Abschluss der Umsetzung.

The Research Group for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics researches and supports industry and business in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (especially decentralized and embedded), Data Science, Internet of Things (Industry 4.0, Medical Technology), Autonomous Flying (drones) and Industrial Automation and Robotics.

In summer 2016, three professors of the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering came together to form the research group HSA_sim: Simulation in Mechanical Engineering. The small team of researchers combine their competences in the area of "simulation":

THA_sim is based on three pillars:

and has highly modern infrastructure, including:

• ANSYS Multiphysics, MSC.MARC and MSC.Nastran on a powerful HPC cluster
• Strength-Testing Laboratory with material analysis and strain measurement
• Wind Tunnel Laboratory with pressure, speed and resistance measuring technology. Thermal and thermomechanical analyses (DMA, DSC and TGA)
