Project description
The project work dealt with the optimisation of warehouse processes at Media-Concept-Bürobedarf GmbH. It was motivated by the frequency of incidents in which items could no longer be found in the location stored by the computer system due to errors during putaway and rebooking. An initial prototype solution to this problem had already been implemented as part of a previous project: the shelves were colour-coded differently and the trolley of the goods putaway operator was equipped with LEDs that light up in the colour of the shelf into which the goods are to be put away.
The focus of the follow-up project was to carry out a usability test to check the potential added value of this prototype. The application currently in use was also included in the analyses. The results and the resulting recommendations for action were recorded in the form of a usability concept.
The project members were six students on the Business Information Systems Master's programme. The project was carried out in the winter semester 19/20.
